Tom Kranz is a Philadelphia native whose 30 year career included radio, television and online journalism. A graduate of Temple University, he worked for eleven years in various roles at WCAU-TV and fifteen years as a producer and senior producer at CBS. His on-scene assignment in West Philadelphia in May 1985, detailed in his book Liveshot, remains one of the most important stories of his career second only to the 9-11 attacks.

His experiences working in newsrooms shaped some of the narrative of his novels Budland and Killer Competition. His lifelong fascination with science fiction on television, in movies and in novels sparked his ideas for Time Travel Rescue, a sci-fi adventure that takes place in both the 23rd century and in the mid-21st century.

Today, Tom is director of communications for a senior living company in New Jersey and is a volunteer EMT in his town.
